This is one of my favourites here in elfwood. I know and admire this picture for long time and finally I dared to comment it. I love cats, especially those black 2 I know few people who hate cats (and love dogs instead, eh 2 I couldn't understand why, they explain - they say cats are false. I think they are just pragmatic, as sometimes they may consider human for a tin opener 2)) So, egyptians adored the cats. Why not. Those animals are so strange. Who knows what lies behind those green eyes... maybe great goddess of all cats is watching us...

Thats so awesome, I would expect to find it in some art gallery. The details are just... breathtaking.

WONDERFUL!! BRILLANT!! You even remembered that her name was Bast not BastET.

Only a few things: She didn't have the Ethreal feel to her, the thing that makes her seem timeless and powerful. She needs to have that Majestic Beauty as well, also She needs to have an Ankh somewhere.

I cannot find other words to express other than:

You are a close #2.

Almost a one dearest.

I love the Egyptian culture and this pic is really good! Detailed and everything, i think it's great that you wanted to keep it a bit realistic!

Great picture, your technique is perfect, especially how you rendered the temple walls, it really magnifies the goddess and yet its simplicity is giving the picture this feeling of witnessing reality...that's what i like, being able to meet irreal people just by looking at a picture. Thanks for introducing me to Bast, i'm now going to worship her!!

OMG so nice!!! Dark Huntress Cara, I understand what you mean about the loss of ethereal feel. But I think that it sort of shows her with a more everyday (if you can say that about a goddess) and more mortal feel. My favorite thing is the dress. Great proportions, great! I'm a pretty good drawer but I wish I could do it like you.

I had a little statue of Bast with kittens around her feet. This picture is like bringing that figurine into "real" life. Thank you.

:-) Alisa Simonoff replies: "Thank you, that little statue of yours sounds really neat. I’d like to have something like that."

Alisa, I got it long ago at the gift shop of the Universit of PA museum shop. Chek out museum gift shops which often have reproductions of ancient statues/figurines for sale. Also got a nice Isis figure and a Horus hawk.
