While I was hiking through the mountains one day I decided to take a break and climb down to a creek that was running alongside the trail for awhile. I was struck by the serenity, beauty and life-force of the place, and felt a lifting of my spirit. It was an experience of the divine quality of nature, and it evolved into this Personification-the Visionary, who I believe was revieled to me as the embodyment of the feminine aspect and the bringer of all Life

Watercolor on Paper, 16" x 24"

Having looked at the woman again, I can't say that it's a darkness around the chin specifically -- I think it is rooted in the detail. Her features appear to be rougher and broader, I think, which may make her seem more masculine (partially because of the size of the piece and her general form), but I really couldn't say for sure. I think it's just distance and size because after having looked closely at it, I think the face looks all right and I do understand that it is impossible (or close to impossible) for you to change it. But as I said I love this piece. Great job.

I think that this is a beautiful piece, I particularly like the background -- the lighting is exceptional and the gentle nuances of the greenery coupled with the opalescence of the water perfects the tranquility that I think the figure reflects. There is something about the face, though, that I can't quite place -- I think that near the chin it looks a bit darker, which seems to suggest a beard? I don't really know what it is, but I can understand Anonymous's (the first Anonymous that is) confusion (although he/she may have expressed his/her opinion in a different, more polite manner). I think the wings are lovely, though, and the four arms suit the person well. The pose and lines are exceptional (please excuse my poor use of art terms) -- there is a natural elegance in the form that is inspiring. Everything is complimented wonderfully and I would say that the blurred effect of the bushes is actually something that adds to the charm, but to each his/her own. A wonderful piece. Congrats on Mod's Choice.

Lovely dress and hair and face and feathers, and refelction, the background looks a little like you sold you self short... The father away from the girl you get the less detail you have and it starts to look kidish (the bushes) but the girl and the dirt & water are awesome!

Dragontear, what a sizeist attitude to wings. They come in all shapes and sizes, I think these wings are lovely, size and all.

Congrats on Mods Choice! Beautiful flow and the background and lighting are wonderful!
11 Jun 200545 Dragontear, just your usual 15 year old book worm
four armed GIRL!! idiot. i hate it when people are ignorant. the curve of the body is too femine for a clumsy ugly male (no offense)and you usually don't see guys in a skirt unless its a robe or a kilt, and that ain't either. I really love the realism of this picture, except, what usualy bugs me. the wings. wings are way too small. if the character is suppose to look natural, then her wings should be developed. This picture doesn't seem to be portraying deterioration of a species or lame birth defects. but, otherwise i think its cool.

The background is absolutely WONDERFUL! But I think the woman character is weird! :|

Very astonishing... it’s as if she’s dancing, or reciting a poem perhaps to her unseen visitors!?

:-) Alisa Simonoff replies: "Dancing I think...perhaps in honor to the glory of nature?"
